Hi I'm Kay the Owner and Lead Trainer!
I have been working with dogs since I was in 4th grade. I received my bachelor’s degree in 2010 at Cleveland State University where I studied Biology and Animal Science. I was a veterinarian technician for years for large and small animals as well as a zookeeper and wildlife rehabilitator in Ohio. I specialize in precision obedience, service dog training, dog reactivity, and dog aggression. I worked alongside multiple police K9 units and compete professionally in the protection sport PSA. Furthermore, I work very closely with Dogtra equipment and was featured as a K9 trainer in Ray Allen magazine. My journey in Florida started when I worked side by side with Joel Slaven and Jack Hanna as a SeaWorld Animal Trainer, responsible for training and caring for domestic and exotic animals. In 2015 and 2016 I was awarded the Dock Diving World Champion. In May 2017, I was also awarded Police Canine Biathlon Champion with my dog MARSOC and got fourth place in 2019. I have extensive training and experience working with animals and take pride in the work and staff here at MARSOC’S K9 Training Facility. I utilize positive reinforcement and classical conditioning techniques to create desirable puppy behavior. The equipment that our facility utilizes mimics the same sensation that a tens unit provides during muscle rehabilitation. We pair this equipment with verbal praise, food, and toy rewards to reinforce wanted behavior while eliminating problematic tendencies, calmly, and effectively. I AM TYPICALLY YOUR DOG'S LAST CHANCE! Other trainers recommend me because they can't fix your dog. TRAINING IS NOT A JOB, IT'S A LIFESTYLE AND MY PURPOSE IN LIFE.
Hi I'm Nathan - Trainer and Human Resources!
I bring a very calm yet upbeat environment to training and team moral. Kay and I run the facility together as a family and this is our life. I have been training under Kay for 4 years and I'm her right hand man. I am able to train dogs from start to finish and help during go home lessons. Recently, I have gotten involved in sport PSA for protection dog training as well as training to be a decoy... Yes, I get bit professionally by dogs! It doesn't matter the breed, size, or temperament, all the puppies love me!
Hi I'm Mike - Trainer, Photographer !
I've been training dogs with Kay for about 8 years. Together, we have competed in dock diving, the US. Canine Biathlon, agility, and bite work. Dogs and photography are my passions and I'm able to do both professionally here. Nothings better than beings a glorified treat dispenser and capturing training miracles on camera.
Hi I'm KC - Facility Manager and Communication Extraordinaire!
I am your dog's best friend from day one! (Everyone loves KC). I was a client originally 4 years ago and couldn't get enough of training and advancing myself as a handler while advancing my dogs. I'm extremely patient and generous with treats and help make nervous dogs feel comfortable. I'm currently apprenticing under Kay to be able to train dogs from start to finish. I wear many hats wether it's helping to capture candid moments with Mike, transporting dogs, communicating with clients, prepping equipment or just playing with and/or training dogs at the facility. I simply do it all because I love what I do and managing this company makes me beyond proud!
Hi I'm Gina - Administrative Assistant/Secretary!
Originally I came to Kay as a client and fell in love with the facility. I was hired to be Kay's personal assistant and to run the business behind the scenes. Typically I answer all calls and messages while working side by side with Kay to ensure client communications and the well being of all dogs on property. I run the classroom curriculum and help out with evaluations and tours of the facility. Typically I am the first person you talk to on the phone and your main point of contact. I will become your best friend and the gate keeper to your dog's training!
Hi I'm Malexia - Kennel Supervisor!
I'm currently in a contest against KC to earn the spot as your dog's best friend! I oversee everything in the facility to ensure your dog is receiving the best care possible. Typically you will meet me during pick ups and drop offs. If your dog has medications, I make sure their special needs are taken care of. I love the one on one time with the dogs. My favorite thing to do is take a step back from my supervisor role to groom and play with your dogs!
Hi I'm Joey - Maintenance and Grounds Keeper!
I originally started off as a junior handler and client of Kay's. I'm a professional pooper scooper, dirt shoveler, dog walker, and general handy man. I handle most of the odds and ends around the facility while going to school full time. My main job description is to make sure the facility always stays pristine.
Hi I'm Breanna - Head Kennel Tech!
I'm a junior handler and currently in school full time. I recently got a full ride to an animal behavioral college in Florida and inspire to be a future dog trainer. I love animal behavior and typically run the weekend shift. I hate days off away from the dogs because my main goal is to spoil them while I'm at work to make up for lost time. I make sure all kennels are clean, dogs are walked and played with, and that your pup has the best experience while here.
